Stimme der Psychiatrie-Erfahrenen am WHO-Tag der Gesundheit (7.4.2001)
Psychiatrie-Selbsthilfe im Internet

Pressemitteilung
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
In diesem Jahr steht der WHO-Tag der Gesundheit Freitag, 6. April
2001 unter dem Motto »Mental Health: Stop Exclusion
Dare to care« (»Psychiatrie: Stoppt die Ausgrenzung Traut
Einrichtung in Deutschland. Von hier aus gehen Links zu »www.enusp.org«,
dem Europäischen Netzwerk Psychiatriebetroffener oder zum Weltverband
»http://wnusp.net«.

Voice of users and survivors of psychiatry on WHO-Day of Health
(April 7, 2001)
Psychiatric self-help on the internet
»www.bpe-online.de« promoted by the German Health Ministry
Press release
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
this year's WHO-day of health Friday, April 6, 2001 takes
place under the motto "Mental Health: Stop Exclusion Dare
to care". In presence of the WHO Director-General, the former Norwegian
Prime Minister Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland, on behalf of the European Network
of (ex-)Users and Survivors of Psychiatry Peter Lehmann, living in Berlin,
demands more funding of selfhelp and non-psychiatric alternatives as well
as an effective protection of the human rights and dignity of people placed
as involuntary patients. Further on he pleads for paying closer attention
to dangerous effects of electroshock and psychotropic drugs especially
of antipsychotic drugs with their frequently depressive and suicidal effects.
You can find the short lecture in the internet at www.peter-lehmann-publishing.com/articles/lehmann/genf_2001.htm
As a good example of a socially integrative action he focusses on the
financial promotion of the new website of the German Bundesverbands Psychiatrie-Erfahrener
e.V. (BPE; Federal Organisation of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry)
by the German Ministery of Health. At bpe-online.de
in the internet you can immediately find an enormous amount of information
on various issues, such as: mental health legislation, psychotropic drugs
& social help; calendar of events; a discussion forum, local selfhelp-groups.
Free access to the internet in psychiatric institutions, as demanded by
the BPE now, would allow a steady contact not only to friends, children
and parents, but also to selfhelp-groups.
www.weglaufhaus.de,
the website of Germany's till now only antipsychiatric institution, is also
interesting for (ex-)users and survivors of psychiatry. Here you can find
links to enusp.org,
the European Network or to the World Network wnusp.wordpress.com.
